Shawn Connally is the director of digital media for Maker Media, which includes CRAFT at craftzine.com, MAKE magazine, and Make: Online. She was previously the founding managing editor of both MAKE and CRAFT magazines. She has written for many publications, including the Marin Independent Journal, Web Techniques, The Industry Standard, and Quokka Sports, and held leadership production roles at AmericasCup.com, NBCOlympics.com, and ZDNet. She was a writer and editor for Web Review, the online magazine for web designers, has edited books (GIF Animation Studio, Makers:), and began her working relationship with O’Reilly as an editor and writer for Global Network Navigator (GNN), the first commercial website. She's also a Lego fan, skull aficionada, amateur painter and cook, and the mother of two boys of wildly varying heights and ages. |

She has a background in design and technology from Parsons School of Design and enjoys freely sharing projects online, as well as doing sculpture, video, electronics, sewing, knitting, and cooking, sometimes all at once. She produces CRAFT's biweekly tutorial video podcasts covering topics from metalsmithing to homebrewing, machine knitting to electronic embroidery, and everywhere in between.
